  • How Millennia’s can learn a lot from the older Generation

    Blog Post – Week 11

    Jessica Eberle

Topic: How Younger people can learn from the older Generation using technology

According to the Australian Human Rights commission they had found that 20% of Australians avoid conversations about technology with older people because they feel that it will take them too long to explain and will be a lot of effort (Figueiredo et al, 2018). It is known that the elderly are less likely to check their phones when traveling or eating lunch or even before bed compared to the younger generation who are obsessed with technology. The elderly use technology only when they have to and aren’t pressured to use it by society, they also also prefer to use their phones at home compared to the younger generations. The elderly tends to use social media less than the millennials and this is a positive thing since it leads to better sleep and safer for the eyesight. Older people have something to teach younger generations about the healthy and safe use of social technologies.  We should take the time to understand that older consumers are solving their problems in innovative and unexpected ways. They teach us youngsters about   understanding and appreciating the experiences they had growing up and their beliefs, values and more. While being around them you can learn that small things in life are important and how you should care more and not use technology to express your feelings or away to escape life. Technology in general has made both generations live easier, faster and more fun because of the everyday advancing technology that allows us to do so much. The elders in our life are ideal mentors that have much experience and play an important role in helping solve issues.

    How will Marketers use IOT

The internet of things (IoT) is a system of connecting computing devices such as mechanical and digital machines, animals and even humans. They each have a Unique identifier that has the capability to transfer data through a wide network (spiceworks,2019).  They can do this by analyzing customer buying habits across platforms, gathering previously unobtainable data about shows how consumers interact with devices, they also can gain deeper insights into where a customer is in the buying journey. As well as provide real time point of scale notifications and targeted ads and also can help resolve issues quickly while making sales. IOT should be important to marketers because social media is a huge aspect for brands to interact with them. Wearing devices on your body for example such as fitness tracker watches serves as a good opportunity for marketers to connect with compatible people and try to attract them with new products/services. The advance development of technology such as chatbots, smart speakers helps allow users to shop online, check order status, locate restaurants nearby, check the weather and plenty more all due to the new advancements .

This gives marketers an easier way to stay connected to their customers. As the rise of IoT keeps on growing, thus the data also improves as well this will allow marketers to find out more about their users and their like and dislikes(Marketo marketing blog,2015). IOT is going to big huge thing in the future, and it’s evolving quickly.  The Internet of Things main objective is to have a smart system that connects devices all over the globe (Ismail,2019). The Internet of Things is the is having a tremendous growth of the data and that can have a huge disadvantage such as security and privacy breaches, can also lead to technical complexity which means that all devices are connected so if something happens all data can be lost. Another negative outcome is having higher costs and loss of time when creating new technology which can lead to increased risk of loss of jobs. Overall, there are good and bad aspects of IOT but with good ethics and determination it can go a long way in the future of technology.

  • What is Viral Marketing?

Viral marketing a method of marketing, in by which consumers are encouraged to share information about a company’s goods or services through the internet. Using the Steepps method will help you understand why ideas spread first we start of by social Currency, which is when  people like to share their thoughts, opinions and interests for example using twitter. Next is Trigger which is when Ideas that are more straightforward are more likely to be expressed more such as how the Pandemic and war has caused rising fuel prices (Yang et al 2010). Next is Emotions, which are the level of physiological arousal or activation that a message triggers also affects sharing such as how the American Parliament stated that abortions were illegal in the US. Which caused an uproar and millions took to the streets! Last is Public Products/ideas that are observable are more likely to be imitated such as the such as when a teacher asks if any of the students have questions and no one answers because they don’t understand. Next is Practical value which are people who spread useful information for example giving health and beauty tips to young teens. Lastly are people don’t think in terms of facts they think in terms of narratives or stories such as Greek God in Greece are real would be a good example. Marketing process is very important to understand the needs, wants and demands of customers (Evans and Ballen,2015). This strategy will be created to match the demand of each customer. This process is needed when trying to get your product out into the world and how important viral marketing is.

  • GOOGLE IS GOD!!!!?

    WHAT IS SEO???

According to (Mailchimp,2022) SEO means Search Engine Optimization and is the process used to improve a website. It is also a structured approach used to help company become more productive and popular or its products in search engine using selected keywords or phrases. It’s basically a marketing tool used to make websites more known to users. An example would be Google, it will provide the most accurate results. (Khraim,2015) states that SEO has brought a positive impact to individual’s life and satisfies all users by filtering the most thorough results. Google is known as the best SEO(Koudelková, 2020)

    Why is GOOGLE so special?????

Google is great  for searching locations whenever you need to get a place at a certain time and at the same time provides the most ideal results for its users.Users like me who use Google on a daily always helps me find what I am ssearching for. For example, if I would like to eat out for dinner, I can always search for popular restaurants that are nearby at a click of a button. As a student at RMIT, I mainly use it for researching topics for my assignments and it almost always comes up with the results I’m looking for. Google is source and solution to all our problems. According to (Fleischner,2010)Google Ads uses Google’s pay-per-click (PPC) advertising solution, which allows businesses to make money on keywords for a chance to show ads in Google search results. This is also another amazing aspect of Google. Now you can see why Google is so amazing at what it does and I believe that by understanding user’s desires and providing them with higher quality of results make Google a successful SEO platform to use .
